Inspiring Settings
Warleggan is a beautiful little hamlet on the southern edge of Bodmin Moor, one of the loveliest landscapes in Cornwall.
Relaxing Retreat
The Cyprus Flat is set within an old rectory. The rectory was built between 1705 to 1707 by Daniel Baudris, a rector of Huguenot origin. The flat takes its name from a door painted by the Reverend Densham (vicar, 1931 - 1952).
The Cyprus Flat has lovely Georgian features. It has an open plan kitchen (the Residency is self-catering) and lounge overlooking the Oval Lawn, a huge bathroom with shower and bath, a hallway with a small library - which includes the work of earlier Residents, and a comfortable bedroom with a king-sized bed.
Creative Foundations
The Residency celebrates the lives of Roger and Laura Farnworth. Laura was a poet who loved birds, wild plants, the wind, the moor and the sea. Roger was a philosopher, painter, human rights activist, archaeologist and poet.
Applications
The Roger and Laura Farnworth Arts Residency is organised and managed by Bodmin Moor Poetry Festival (BMPF) with Cathy Rozel Farnworth.
A few Residencies are offered each year. Writers and artists can choose to develop work in progress, or create new work. Residencies are offered Friday to Friday for up to 7 days.
Expressions of interest can be sent to Cathy Rozel Farnworth.
